I just finished a long planned series of changes to the site, and since most of those changes were due to pieces of code that were not created by me I thought I should give some recognition, along with accompanying link love, to the plugin makers who made the stuff that makes this site run. Most of the new features can be found via the links at the top of the page. My purpose in this series of changes was first to unify the information presented on my main page and my blog and second to remove or move anything unnecessary that might be cluttering up the pages.
I am also in the process of adding a new sub-site at family.jayprickett.com. More info on that in the coming week.
Flickr Photo Gallery by Joe Tan - jayprickett.com/photos/ - This Wordpress plugin uses Flickr's API to create customizable photo galleries on your site. This plugin works really well for the most part (also, check out lightbox in action by clicking on one of the thumbnails under the first photoset), but has an odd bug in it which causes a major malfunction on pics which have html coding in the descriptions. See here for what the result is supposed to be and here for an example of the major malfunction. I have already posted the issues that I am having in the appropriate places, so I have no doubt that the problem will be resolved soon.
Share This by Alex King - Alex King has some of the coolest and most useful plugins available at his site, of which I am using two. The first of these, Share This, is a great and unobtrusive plugin for those who want to provide easy posting of their content to social networking sites like digg and del.icio.us. To see it action, look at the bottom of this post and click the Share This link.
Articles by Alex King - See here for my use of the second Alex King plugin. The Articles plugin can be used to create a page where I can automatically highlight certain posts outside of the normal blog hierarchy.
Permanent Redirect by Angsuman Chakraborty - I use this to unify the pages on my main page and my blog by using redirects along with Wordpress's page system. Click one of the links up top (other than home or articles) and then click the articles link at the top of the main page to see this in action.
Simplr Theme by Scott Wallick of plaintxt.org - I have been using the Simplr theme for my main page for a while now, and while I loved the veryplaintxt theme, also made by Scott, I decided that I should use the same theme for both the blog and the main page.
